Description
Fluke 1587 Insulation Tester Repair
The Fluke 1587 is an insulation multimeter — it combines insulation resistance testing (to 1000 V) with true-RMS multimeter functions (AC/DC voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature) in one handheld tool for industrial and electrical work. Its accuracy depends on the HV insulation generator and the multimeter measurement circuitry, which is where service and calibration focus.
FlukeMeterRepair.com repairs and calibrates the Fluke 1587 for electricians, technicians, and maintenance crews.
Common Fluke 1587 problems we fix
- Display failures — blank, dim, or missing segments, repaired.
- Battery degradation — won’t power on or hold a charge, the battery and power circuit serviced.
- Insulation-test / HV faults — won’t reach test voltage or reads wrong, repaired.
- Multimeter function faults — a function dead, often after an overload, repaired.
- Readings out of spec — measurement-circuit drift, recalibrated against standards.
FAQs
My 1587 display or battery is failing — fixable? Yes. Display and battery faults are repairable, and insulation/meter faults too, then the tester is recalibrated so all functions read accurately, with a NIST-traceable certificate.
Do you calibrate both functions? Yes — insulation and multimeter ranges are checked against our standards.
Every repair includes NIST-traceable calibration and a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Email us or request service.

Our Fluke 1587 insulation tester stopped putting out voltage for testing. Tried a few things with no results and sent in for evaluation. They sent me a estimate fairly quickly and the price was reasonable, so I approved the repair and calibration. They returned the meter with calibration certificate for our ISO-9001 compliance. Very happy with the results.
